About Teman

Teman is a 36-metre (118 ft) phinisi, launched in June 2017 in South Sulawesi. Teak and ironwood, beam 7.5 m, draft 2.4 m, two masts and six sails. A 2021 refit kept the same five-cabin layout and freshened the decks. Ten guests is the comfortable number. Twelve if both triples take a third berth.

Sulawesi, the master, sits aft with a queen and a window onto the afterdeck. Banda and Flores are doubles in the bow. Celebes and Seram are the triples amidships: a queen, a single and a desk between them. All five are ensuite, air-conditioned, with three portholes. Crew of ten, plus a cruise director and dive guides when the group dives.

Semi-open dining. Indoor lounge. Sun deck with bean bags. Dive deck on the bow, two Bauer compressors, kayaks and boards. Komodo private charter from $4,700/night. Raja Ampat from $5,250. Book her as a private charter, or take a cabin on a published sailing from $470 + per person per night.

Questions

Teman FAQ

Can I book a cabin instead of the whole ship?

Yes. Cabin charters run on published dates from $470 + per person per night in Komodo. Take the whole ship if your group can fill the cabins, from $4,700/night. Some weeks stay private only.

How many guests can sleep on Teman?

Twelve across five ensuite cabins if Celebes and Seram take a third berth. Ten is the more generous number if those two stay as doubles.

Is she set up for diving?

Yes. A dedicated dive deck, tanks, two compressors and dive guides when the group dives. Nitrox is extra. If nobody in the group dives, the decks still work: kayaks, boards and snorkel kit stay included.

Are the cabins above deck?

Sulawesi sits aft with a window onto the afterdeck. Banda, Flores, Celebes and Seram sit below with portholes. If every cabin must sit above the waterline, look at Rascal or Rebel instead.

Who is Teman for?

Divers and mixed groups who want twelve berths without a $12,000 night, and anyone happy on a working liveaboard phinisi. She is a poor match if you want a steel explorer, a villa layout, or nitrox included in the night rate. Those groups are not how we sell her.
