The ship

About Mutiara Laut

Mutiara Laut came out of a Kalimantan yard in 2009 as a 46-metre (151 ft) wooden schooner and was rebuilt in 2023. The hull follows an 18th-century North Atlantic schooner; the living is teak, an air-conditioned saloon with wraparound glass, and a covered deck for meals outside. Seven sails sit on two masts. She is meant to move under wind when the route allows, not only under engine.

Fifteen guests sleep in seven ensuite cabins. The master sits on the main deck with a king bed and a private terrace. Four double cabins and two front cabins take the lower deck. A crew of fifteen run helm, galley, dive deck and the hours in between.

Private charter is the quieter week if your group can fill the cabins. Cabin charters run on published dates through Komodo in the dry months, Raja Ampat when the monsoon turns north-west, and longer eastern legs through Alor, the Spice Islands and Papua.

Can Mutiara Laut handle a long private charter in Indonesia?

Yes. She was rebuilt for seven- to fourteen-night loops, not day trips. Seven sails, tankage and a crew of fifteen are sized so fifteen guests can stay aboard through a Komodo circuit, Raja Ampat, or a Spice Islands add-on without living on top of one another.

What kind of week does the ship actually run?

She is a sailing schooner first. Days move with wind, a swim off the stern and a dive when the water is right. If you want a packed dive roster, we can set that. It is not the default rhythm.

How many guests can sleep on Mutiara Laut?

Fifteen across seven ensuite cabins, including the main-deck master. Twelve is the more generous number if you want a cabin left as a dressing room, nanny space or quiet office.

Can I book a cabin instead of the whole ship?

Yes. Private charter is the quieter week if your group can fill the cabins, from $13,500/night. Cabin charters run on published dates from $850 per person per night. Two guests in one cabin each pay the published person rate.
