The ship

About Jakare

Jakare is a 30-metre (98 ft) phinisi, built in Tanah Beru between 2015 and 2017 by the HJ Puga family. Beam 7 m, draft 2 m, two masts, about 500 m² of sail. Wooden pegs rather than nails. There is no superstructure above the decks, which is why the sun deck and yoga space feel larger than the length. Crew of ten, including a French and English-speaking dive instructor.

Five ensuite cabins. Ten guests is what the private night rate covers. Twelve if you add two more at $250 a night each, or if the aft lounge is closed in as extra berths. Dewi Sri sits aft: a 150 cm double onto a private wooden deck at the water. Lotus and Orchid are the premiums amidships. Banggai and Anthias are the forward standards, a 120 cm bed plus an 85 cm single.

Three dives a day is the usual rhythm, not four. Kayaks, a SUP, a wakeboard, nitrox and TEK kit if the group wants it. Shaded dining, beanbags, a yoga deck. Komodo private charter from $4,900/night for ten. Raja Ampat from $5,500. Cabin charter from $500 per person per night on a published sailing. Sumbawa to Komodo weeks are whale shark itineraries: Saleh Bay is on the line when the month is right.

Jakare FAQ

Can I book a cabin instead of the whole ship?

Yes. Cabin charters run on published dates from $500 + per person per night. Take the whole ship if your group can fill ten berths, from $4,900/night in Komodo. Some weeks stay private only.

How many guests can sleep on Jakare?

Ten across five ensuite cabins is what the private night rate covers. Twelve if you add two extra guests at $250 a night each, or close in the aft lounge. Eight is the more generous number if Dewi Sri stays a double and a standard cabin is left empty.

Is she set up for diving?

Yes, but she is not sold as a four-dive liveaboard. Three dives a day is the usual pace. Nitrox, TEK and rebreather support sit onboard. Kayaks, a SUP and a yoga deck if nobody wants tanks that morning.

Are the cabins above deck?

Dewi Sri opens onto an aft deck at the water. Lotus, Orchid, Banggai and Anthias sit below with portholes. If every cabin must sit above the waterline, look at Rascal or Rebel instead.

Who is Jakare for?

Families and mixed groups who want ten berths without a $12,000 night, and who can live with three dives a day plus yoga and boards. She is a poor match for a compressor-first week, or for anyone who needs every cabin on the main deck. Those groups are not how we sell her.
