Galileo came out of the Picchiotti yard, a Perini Navi house, in 2011 as a 55.7-metre
(183 ft) steel explorer. Philippe Briand drew the hull. She is ice-classed, has
circled the globe twice, and carries fuel for 9,000 nautical miles. Interiors were
worked over in 2023. Engines, generators and air-conditioning were done again in 2026
for the fifteen-year survey. Twelve guests, five ensuite cabins, eleven crew. Private
charter only.
The master is full-beam. Two further doubles and two twins take the rest of the party,
with two Pullman berths when a family needs twelve beds rather than ten. Ten is the
week that still feels like a house. Twelve is the published maximum.
She is built for weeks that a phinisi does not attempt: a 9.5-metre Zodiac, a
Williams pair, a full dive locker with twelve Aqualung sets, boards and foils, and
instructors who actually surf and dive. The lazarette is a gym. Dining is inside or
on deck. Indonesia when the programme is there (Komodo, Raja Ampat), the Indian Ocean
and, through 2027, the South Pacific. Private charter is the only booking.
