About Damai I

Damai I is a 40-metre (130 ft) ironwood and teak phinisi, launched in 2009 in Tanjung Bira by Pak Hadji Baso. Beam just over 8 m. She was built as a dive boat first: a camera room with workstations, individual rinse tanks, nitrox, and two custom tenders. Twelve guests on a normal week. Fourteen only on a full-boat charter.

Seven ensuite cabins. Cabin 6 is the master people remember: about 35 m² plus a 15 m² balcony. Cabin 5 is the 40 m² deluxe below. Cabins 1 to 4 and 7 are the standards, 16 to 22 m², double or twin. Crew of eighteen, including three dive guides and one instructor. That is how they keep a four-to-one ratio in the water.

Three decks for shade, sun and a massage table. Indoor salon and dining. The schedule follows the trades: Raja Ampat and Triton Bay, Cenderawasih, the Forgotten Islands, Alor, Komodo and the Bandas. Private charter from $6,740/night for twelve. Cabin charter from $640 + per person per night on a published sailing.

Questions

Damai I FAQ

Can I book a cabin instead of the whole ship?

Yes. Cabin charters run on published dates from $640 + per person per night. Take the whole ship if your group can fill twelve berths, from $6,740/night. Many weeks are already held as private charters or group trips. Ask us for what is actually open.

How many guests can sleep on Damai I?

Twelve across seven ensuite cabins on a normal week. Fourteen only if the whole boat is chartered. Eight or ten is the more generous number if you leave a cabin empty.

Is she set up for serious diving?

Yes. Two compressors, a nitrox membrane, a camera room, individual rinse tanks and two dive tenders. Three guides and one instructor. Nitrox is extra. If nobody in the group dives, look at Magia II or Samara II instead. This hull is sold as a dive week.

Are the cabins above deck?

Cabin 6 and Cabin 7 sit higher. Cabin 5 and the other standards sit below with portholes. If every cabin must sit above the waterline, look at Rascal or Rebel instead.

Who is Damai I for?

Divers who want a dedicated camera room and a four-to-one guide ratio, without a $12,000 night. She is a poor match for a non-diving celebration, or for anyone who needs every cabin on the main deck. Those groups are not how we sell her.
