The ship

Amandira

Amandira is Aman’s 52 meter phinisi, built in 2014 and last refitted in 2025, carrying 10 guests across 5 cabins with a crew of 18. She sails the three classic Indonesian routes, Komodo, Raja Ampat, and the Spice Islands, and does so with the kind of quiet precision that comes from a boat designed from the start as a private yacht rather than converted into one.

Cabins and Comfort

Five cabins take 10 guests, arranged as 2 master suites and 3 guest cabins, all ensuite and air conditioned. One cabin was converted from a double to a twin during the 2025 refit, a practical change that makes the boat easier to share among families or friends travelling together. The interiors stay true to the phinisi tradition, teak, ironwood, and the kind of considered space that makes a week at sea feel unhurried rather than confined.

Life Onboard

Days on Amandira can be as active or as still as the group wants them. The boat carries a full complement of water toys: waterski, wakeboard, 2 seabobs, 2 e-foils, 2 tenders, 2 SUPs, 2 kayaks, and 2 sailing dinghies, plus snorkeling and fishing equipment. For divers, Amandira is properly set up, with an onboard dive instructor, a compressor, 12 tanks, 10 BCD and regulator sets, and 2 dedicated dive tenders. PADI Discover Scuba, Open Water, and Advanced Open Water courses can all be taken during the charter. Wifi runs throughout via Starlink, and massage is available on board for anyone who would rather spend the afternoon that way.

Itineraries

Amandira follows the seasons. Komodo runs from April to October, typically 5 to 7 nights, departing Labuan Bajo. Raja Ampat is November to March, a 10 to 12 night charter departing Sorong, covering the Dampier Strait, Misool, and Wayag. The Banda Islands, 10 to 12 nights, sit in the shoulder, November to December or March, a route through the Spice Islands that few boats do as thoroughly. Minimum charter is 5 nights in Komodo and 7 nights everywhere else.

Comfort and Sustainability

Amandira was built as a phinisi in the traditional Sulawesi manner and has been maintained as one, most recently through a 2025 refit that updated the interiors without changing the character of the boat. The wooden hull, the two masts, and the ironwood construction are all original to her design, a boat meant to last rather than be replaced.

Private Charter

Amandira sails exclusively as a private charter. With 5 cabins and a crew of 18, she works naturally for families, groups of friends, and anyone who wants the Aman standard of service applied to a week or more among the islands.
